Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race 2010 -Galway Powerboat Festival 5th-12th June 2010




Céad míle fáilte go Gailimh - Welcome to Galway from Hotel Meyrick to everyone that is competing & spectating in the Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race 2010. We hope the weather we've been experiencing the last coule of weeks continues!
It's time to experience the white-water action of SuperStock powerboat racing. It's fast-paced, action-packed with engines of 150 & 300 horse power that can reach speeds of 80 miles per hour. In simple terms - they could get from Galway Docks to the Aran Islands in 20 minutes flat!!! And you thought the Volvo Boats were fast!!

Racing takes place today from 11am-3pm with the competetors racing from Galway to Killybegs - 174 miles which should take approx 4 hrs. The Prize giving starts from 5pm. At this moment Cinzano Bianco has arrived in Killybegs. Track the powerboats LIVE here.

Galway's surely Rocking the Docks this year with an array of musical talent gracing the stage, and there's even more to come with the Galway Powerboat Festival and racing continuing until Saturday June 12th. There is no admission charge, it's free for everyone, so come on over to Galway City this week & check out all the great Acts & Artists performing LIVE for FREE while we all Rock the Docks! There's something for everyone : )

After an eventful first couple of days we've already seen great performances from:
Mick Flannery, Supermodel Twins, Emmet Scanlan and What the Good Thought on Saturday 5th and last night Sunday 6th we had Declan O'Rourke, Riptide Movement & Crystal Swing.

Entertainment wise for Monday 7th June it's an all Galway affair with All Ireland Talent Show Finalists Emma O'Sullivan and John O'Halloran performing on the main stage from 3pm. At 6.30pm P Disconaut takes to the decks to show us how it's done.
Then kicking off at 8.30pm The Cartoon Thieves (formely known as No Banjo) will showcasing their unique brand of "dirty swamp blues & inate sense of showmanship!

It's all happening in the Docks so grab your raincoat & an umbrella & get on down to help Rock the Docks! Why not enjoy a drink while your there over in the Stage Club Bar!
